About Me

Hi there! I’m Sarah Payne, a passionate quilter, designer, teacher, and author. Quilting isn’t just something I do—it’s a huge part of who I am. My journey into this colourful, creative world started with a love of crafting that has been with me for as long as I can remember. In 2011, after years in the IT industry, I decided to take the plunge and turn my lifelong passion into a full-time career. Let’s just say, it’s been a whirlwind adventure ever since!

In the early days, I co-founded a fabric shop and training centre in the UK. That experience opened so many doors for me and deepened my connection to the wonderful quilting community. From there, I began contributing to some of the top quilting magazines and eventually found myself designing a range of quilting kits for Sew Easy—an international product line.

One of the most exciting parts of my journey has been sharing my love of quilting on television and social media. It’s been such a joy to connect with viewers and teach them new techniques. There’s nothing quite like helping someone discover the magic of creating something beautiful with their own hands.

In 2019, I took on a new challenge and published my book, Sarah Payne’s Quilt School. It’s filled with techniques, tips, and projects aimed at quilters of all levels. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have been quilting for years, I wanted to create a resource that would inspire and encourage you to keep experimenting and having fun with fabric.

Designing fabric collections has also become a huge passion of mine. One of my favourite collections, Elegant Plumage, was inspired by a trip to India—the colours, the patterns, the textures—it was a feast for the senses! It’s so exciting to see quilters use my fabrics to create their own masterpieces.

When I’m not designing or on TV, you can often find me hosting workshops and luxury quilting retreats. There’s something so special about bringing people together over a shared love of quilting. We laugh, learn, and leave with not just new skills, but wonderful memories.

I also love connecting with quilters online. Whether it’s through my YouTube channel, Facebook page, or Instagram, I enjoy sharing updates, tips, and bits of my everyday life. The quilting community is so vibrant and supportive, and being part of it is truly rewarding.

Quilting has taken me on an incredible journey, and I’m always excited to see where it leads next. Whether you’re a seasoned quilter or just thinking about giving it a try, I hope my story inspires you to pick up some fabric and start creating.
